The woodwind section is arranged in two rows behind the strings, and they are related to blowing air through the instrument to play.
There are three types of woodwind instrument: no reed, single reed, and double reed. This is based on the method of how the instrument is played. Instruments without a reed focus a stream of air through a hole in the instrument to create the sound, whereas reed instruments focus the stream of air through a mouthpiece causing the reed to vibrate and generate the sound.
Despite their name, woodwind instruments are not always made of wood, with many often built with metal!
